Kathy Sreedhar

Kathy Sreedhar, Director of the Unitarian Universality Holdeen India Program (UUHIP), is one of several donors who made the India Summer Internship Project possible.  Ms. Sreedhar has been the Director of UUHIP since it began in 1984.  UUHIP provides long term support to peoples’ organizations and social movements in their efforts to change unequal power relations and resource allocations and unjust social practices.  The foundation focuses on people marginalized or oppressed on the basis of gender, caste, ethnicity, religion or sexual orientation, especially displaced, migrant and bonded laborers.

Ms. Sreedhar has worked in both India and the United States for human rights, development and advocacy organizations and has served on the Boards of foundations and international fellowship organizations.  She has contributed articles to several books and journals on India’s development and social movements.  She is a graduate of Radcliffe College and in 2005 was given the Radcliffe Alumnae Recognition Award.

Under the direction of Ms. Sreedhar, UUHIP donated generously to the Milton Stewart Global Legal Fellows’ India program.  Through her support, the Center was able to secure internship positions at the Dalit Foundation, the Self Employed Womens’ Association and Jagori.  Ms. Sreedhar continues to be an integral part of the Center’s efforts to place interns in the nonprofit sector within India.
