Eli Roberts: Week 6 in Brazil

My assignments during the rest of the week centered on two other projects. For one, I sat in on a conference call and took notes for a colleague as he hashed out details with his American clients. Afterwards, I drafted a revised version of the Letter incorporating the clients’ comments and submitted it to him for finalization. He changed quite a few things as usual, and I feel like the training I received from his comments and revision made me understand the transaction much better. I have been surprised by the complexity of some of the projects I have worked on, and this exposure will certainly motivate me to pay close attention in my classes this coming semester. The second project I was brought on to help with this week was an admission of debt agreement that entailed two main agreements with a contingency “Fiduciary Transfer Agreement.” This was mostly translation and revision of what had already been translated by my coworkers. One of the junior associates took the time to explain why all three documents were necessary, and I found it all extremely fascinating. (I know I say that a lot, but it certainly is true.)
